YVOIRE

is in Haute-Savoie, on the shores of the lake of Geneva, which the French call Lac Léman.

It has walls, a fortified gate and a castle, and is one of the
Plus Beaux Villages de France. 

I loved the old houses, richly provided with flowers and climbing plants, and the lakeside where beautiful old paddle-steamers ply between Yvoire and Nyon, or take you on cruises.
