Beaune, Côte d'Or

Beaune is the very heart of Burgundy, both the province and the wine. The annual wine auctions are held by tradition here in the Hôtel-Dieu, a superb medieval hospital where one can visit the kitchens, and also a ward with magnificent curtained beds where sick paupers were housed, three to a bed.
